Darth Vader, Skeletor, Shredder, Mum-Ra, Cobra Commander, these iconic characters are immediately identifiable, timelessly powerful, undeniable sinister, for the past 20-30 years that surprisingly has not changed. They are in fact, more popular than ever. The appeal of the villain is just as strong if not stronger than the image of the hero.
We’ve designed a series of shows that revisit our time as children and how the toys we played with still resonates with us. COBRA-lalilulelo
is the first in this series which visually explores the trend of villain popularity in our culture and how it relates to play.
Inspired by WWII uniforms, toy packaging and cartoons, these pieces rekindle the love of toys through the use of size and our re-imagined storyline. COBRA-lalilulelo showcases a selection of our mixed media pieces, custom 1/6 scale figures and needle felted sculptures.
The COBRA-lalilulelo show is designed to showcase and highlight
the villains of the G.I. Joe universe. Because after all, here, they are the stars of the show…
